Melbourne Ballet Company
Melbourne Ballet Company is on its way to becoming one of Australia’s premiere dance companies with an innovative style that will be unique to the city of Melbourne. The company although only launched in May 2007 has already proved itself with the presentation of Project One "In Paradisium" June 2007, Project Two "Balanced Perspectives" in March 2008 and Project Three "Scarce Resources" in May 2008 as a vibrant and exciting arts organisation. The company’s repertoire aims to be acclaimed not only for its inventive choreography but for its dedication to every aspect of theatricality. The company will create 3-4 original programs each year. The works will be broad in style ranging from large scale ballets to small and intimate, from narrative to abstract. The common thread with all works presented by Melbourne Ballet Company will be the uncompromising standard of excellence and dedication to producing works with a professional command of every aspect of staging. This includes not only the high calibre of the dancers employed but the design, music, costumes and lighting of every performance.
Melbourne Ballet Company dancers will showcase athletisium, great technical ability and will bring to every rehearsal and performance artistry and incredible dedication to the art form. The dancer\choreographer relationship and exchange will be a crucial partnership in the creation of new works for Melbourne Ballet Company.
The company will give prominence to a broad range of talented Australian artists. This includes designers, composers, musicians, visual artists and film makers who will be given the opportunity to develop their own art in a theatrical context with a professional ballet company.
The company has an ongoing commitment to develop audiences for dance. The company has developed educational programs for school students and offers workshops, master classes and summer/winter school programs for the young dancers of Melbourne.
Project Two is a Duo comprising of:
“Balanced Perspectives”
Ballet 1. “In One Day”
By Simon Hoy and Robert Kelly to music by Antonio Vivaldi. In One day is an arresting journey through four mystical seasons that go to make up “one perfect day”.
Ballet 2 “Keine Ahnung”
Translated from German to English means “No Idea”. Choreographed by Damian.M.G and Rita.A.B. The piece conveys a feeling of isolation, coldness and social separation. The starke, abstract nature of this piece creates an ambience that leaves audiences feeling touched and involved.
